How to grow beets?

Beets are one of easiest root vegetables to grow. Beets love cool climate, sow in early spring or later summer after a crop of sping vegetable. For instance, plant beets after first crop of cucumbers are harvested. Like other root vegetables, you o not need too much nigrogen for beets, apply a fertilizer with a P and K in the mix and less nitrogen. The cylindrical beets are great space savor. Sow beets in rows 8" apart, it is OK to sow a little dense at first, as beet green is a delicious and nutricious addtion your diet.
